First Great Western is helping rail travellers get their five-a-day portions of fruit, and promoting the growth of a small company with a big idea.
By leasing out a prime platform site on Reading Station to fresh fruit and healthy snack provider Vitaburst, First Great Western is helping the growth of the healthy snack outlet for travellers on the move.
Vitaburst – a brand set up by Stuart and Kathy Hallworth is now opening a branch at Reading Station on 8 December and aims to establish further sites nationwide: Vitaburst’s first station shop opened at Oxford Station in 2005.
The company makes a point of only selling healthy, additive free food and prides itself on offering organic and fresh ingredients. For the winter months, it is serving up hot soups alongside its flu-fighting fresh fruit juices, smoothies and health food options. Launch day promotions include a raffle for a juicer and free samples. Vitaburst will be donating a percentage of its sales to the World Cancer Research Fund.
Stuart and Kathy, Vitaburst’s owners, are both qualified in nutrition and diet and promote a personal belief in making healthy food available for today’s busy commuter.
“Vitaburst was our own idea, and was identified as a result of our constant frustration at not being able to find quick, healthy snack alternatives when traveling, and an apparent gap in the market. From small beginnings we are now aiming to expand nationally. We have a personal hand in our business and our mission is simple - to offer commuters a great tasting, quality product that makes them feel good while being good for them too.” Say Stuart and Kathy.
Scott Paton Station Manager at Reading says: “We are proud to welcome another outlet to Reading Station – the second busiest national railway station outside London where our First Great Western travellers can now access the healthy food option from Stuart and Kathy’s personal touch.”
